CCW State Law Comparisons - Permit Form 2 (table of contents, next page)

Firearm Specific Permit:

Some states only issue permits for specific firearm or categories of firearms. This is done in a effort to control what firearms the permit holder may carry and is thought to increase the likelihood that the permit holder will safely know how to handle the firearm they carry.

Firearm specific permits are considered to be restrictive. In practice, the experiences of these states demonstrates it is not a necessity to enhanced safety.

Conclusion:

Proposition B is rated as the second strictest for the Permit Form when compared to the provisions included in the other 30 states with right-to-carry concealed firearm laws.
