Of special note is that opponents claim that there is no penalty provided by Proposition B for carrying a concealed firearm into a school, church, polling place or government buildings. They are factually challenged in that current law and Prop B stipulate such a violation is a Class B misdemeanor.
Prohibited Locations:
Bars:
- 19 states deny access into Bars or places that serve alcohol for consumption on the premises. Some statutes limit this restriction to places that make 51% of their income from alcohol sales for consumption on the premises. For the purposes of this analysis, they were included.
- 4 states allow bars to post signs [Prop B]; and
- 8 states do not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms into bars.
Stadiums or Athletic Events (Professional):
- 7 states prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms;
- 7 allow organizers to post signs [Prop B]; and
- 17 states allow carrying concealed firearms at sporting events.
Stadiums or Athletic Events (School/College):
- 7 states prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms;
- 7 allow organizers to post signs [Prop B]; and
- 17 states allow carrying concealed firearms at school sporting events.
Casinos/Gambling Establishments:
- 2 states prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms;
- 8 allow owners to post signs denying access to permit holders [Prop B]; and
- 21 states allow carrying concealed firearms into casinos.
Schools:
- 17 states prohibit the carrying of firearms [Prop B];
- 6 allow for the posting of signs to deny access; and
- 8 allow permit holders to carry into school.
Banks and Financial Institutions:
- 3 states prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms;
- 8 allow the bank to post signs to deny access [Prop B]; and
- 20 states allow permit holders to carry concealed firearms into banks.
Amusement Parks:
- 1 state prohibits the carrying of concealed firearms;
- 8 allow the park to post signs denying access [Prop B]; and
- 22 states allow permit holders to carry concealed firearms into parks.
Day Care Centers:
- 2 states prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms;
- 9 states allow the centers to post signs denying access [Prop B]; and
- 20 states allow permit holders to carry concealed firearms into day care centers.
